Their sponsorship of the Hong Kong Open which began in 1985 was not the first involvement of Cathay Pacific. 50 years ago this week in 1975 the Ovaltine Cathay Pacific Invitation event took place. Here is the programme, featuring Australian stars Geoff Hunt, Billy Reedman and Ken Hiscoe – with their autographs against their profiles.

When Irish Squash celebrated its 50th year in 1985 the federation produced a brochure which included an article on the period from the start in 1935.

This month 50 years ago John Easter, Abbas Kaoud, Bryan Patterson and Ahmed Safwat played each other in the 1975 Patrick GB v Egypt circuit.
