The Drysdale Cup, the informal title of the British Under 19 Men’s Open, was named after RAC member Dr Theodore Drysdale. He spearheaded the initiation of the event in 1926 but died suddenly shortly afterwards, so his fellow RAC members provided the Drysdale Cup trophy for the event which reaches its centenary next year.
Some great player names were winners, with only Del Harris winning four times. Scoring three titles were Nigel Broomfield and Mohamed ElShorbagy. Jahangir Khan and Amr Shabana failed in finals, and Jansher Khan doesn’t feature at all.
